April 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Dr. Lowell Catlett has added a new topic to his keynote presentations. The title: GET REAL! Understanding Today’s Economy and Tomorrow’s New Future. Catlett’s description: Economic downturns are common (14 recessions during the last 80 years) and provide a means for society to re-balance what they deem important. Every recession leads to a spurt in new business starts, reformulation of business practices and new technological adaptations. This current pause is no exception as we focus on what we value most. Get ready for phenomenal growth in healthcare, energy and lifestyle markets. For those willing to embrace the opportunities, the next decade will be successful beyond any in history.

Smith
.

-In 2001, the Wall Street Journal has ranked Brian Wesbury the nation’s #1 U.S. economic forecaster. You’ll find him all over the ‘net these days, with his take on the current climate as well as on CNBC, writing for the Wall Street Journal, and more.

W Shaped Period of Economic Performance, says Jeff Thredgold

September 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Looking to bring in a presenter to speak on the current state of the economy?

Speaker Jeff Thredgold will bring your group up-to-the-minute perspective on where things stand in the U.S. economy, and where the economy might stand six, 12, or 18 months from now. His presentations are not flashy or filled with multimedia. “It’s just a microphone and me,” says Thredgold. “And I’m pretty easy to see, since I’m six-foot-five.”

Thredgold’s not a motivational speaker. He brings strong, accessible, and factual presentations about current events that affect markets and the economy. Along with talking about the global economy, tight labor markets, and financial institutions, Thredgold also has a presentation that covers the “Top 10 Myths Reported by the National Media.”

Including NAIFA, he has talked to a mind-boggling 1,000 plus groups in 48 states since 1988. Thredgold spent 23 years with banking titan KeyCorp, serves as an economic consultant to $50 billion Zions Bancorporation, and is a former member of the Economic Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Bankers Association.

And despite such heady involvement in those organizations, Thredgold is one of the only economists to earn the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation.

So, what his latest take? Check out his tea leaf bulletin:

The U.S. Economy…the big “W”

The current period of U.S. economic volatility seems likely to continue in coming quarters.  A “W”-shaped period of economic performance seems underway. The official “scorekeeper” of the U.S. economy, the National Bureau of Economic Research, has remained silent to this point in regard to recession.  In our view, an announcement that a recession likely started around the end of 2007 could come at any time.
