Ex-Con Keynote: Bank Robber Motivation
December 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Bank Robber...and motivational speaker?
Yesterday I attended the monthly meeting of MPI SCC (Southern California Chapter of Meeting Professionals) at the lovely Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles. I went to preview Troy Evans, an ex-con and a motivational speaker. His talk, despite centering primarily around lessons from his time in prison (he demonstrated two to three creative prison weapons- which generated a fun post-talk query about how he gets his props through security!), was extremely upbeat and positive and…inspirational. He talked about the importance of time- and how one learns that in prison every moment really is precious. He discussed limitations; after all, if he could earn two degrees behind bars, what’s to stop us from accomplishing our goals when we’re out here? Good stuff, and the audience seemed to be at rapt attention. Contact us for more information on inspirational keynote speakers like Troy.
Troy’s talk included a very powerfully delivered quote on the value of time that I had to look up when I got back. Here it is:
To realize the value of one year: Ask a student who has failed a final exam.
To realize the value of one month: Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of one week: Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of one hour: Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of one minute: Ask the person who has missed the train, bus or plane.
To realize the value of one second: Ask a person who has survived an accident.
To realize the value of one millisecond: Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Neal Petersen’s one of our most unique speakers, and not just because of his background in yacht racing and investment banking. It’s because in these economic times, he offers so much value for his keynote speaking fee. At no additional cost, in addition to his keynote talk, Neal will do in-house welcome videos, book-signings, lunches, receptions, awards, media appearances, executive breakfasts and any special requests you may have to maximize audience impact.
Take a look at Neal Petersen’s “No Barriers- Only Solutions” keynote. He challenges and empowers his audience to think differently, outside the box, with responsibility and accountability.
Neal’s messages include:
- The importance of realizing goals; perseverance, determination in reaching them.
- The role of social responsibility in corporate America.
- Turning perceived disadvantages into advantages:
- The power of positive attitude and how it affects one’s performance.
- With choice there are consequences – choose wisely.

Keynote Speakers: Keep on Trucking
July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I recently watched motivational speaker and photographer Steve Uzzell’s keynote preview video again and in a post-July 4th patriotic fever was struck by the beauty of the natural places in our country as depicted in his work: in particular his award-winning campaign for a trucking line he did some years ago for Yellow Freight. There’s something very uniquely American about long-haul trucking culture, and though I’d never thought about it clearly before, truckers really do criss-cross some of this country’s most gorgeous landscapes and following them around provides for some great photo opportunities (providence, he calls it). Gas prices these days mean that they spend thousands to fill up…but oh, to be on the open road in places like these!

With meeting budgets shrinking, we’ve got you covered with a wide selection of outstanding, top-rated speakers. From sports to sales, our speakers cover the most requested topics. We have booked the most popular and the most affordable speakers for $10,000…and yes, some for under $10,000 and under $5,000. Contact us for exact fees and a complete proposal. Here are a few favorites from Convention Connection account executives Kiela Hine, Sandy Shaw and Barbara Rosenbloom:
Terry Bowden. This college football coach, on-air analyst, and corporate motivational speaker covers topics such as teamwork, motivating benchwarmers, and self-confidence.
John Powers- the classic motivator, with a variety of topics.
Scott Waddle is the former commander of the USS Greeneville. After a scandal that put his name in headlines, he became a shining example of ethics and leadership under pressure, and he now brings his message to groups.
Christine Cashen is a keynote motivator whose specialty is workplace improvement.
Steven S. Little addresses perhaps the most important issue facing groups in today’s economy: how to grow your business.
Frank Miles is a professional clean comic whose message of overcoming fear is presented with insights from his own experience. Great option for the corporate or association audience looking for comedic entertainment, and a takeaway message, too.
Steve Uzzell is an award-winning photographer who blends his talk with stunning pictures, giving insights into the creative process as a metaphor for possibility.
Mike Rayburn is a very popular corporate guitar virtuoso whose on-stage performance is a mixture of keynote speech and customized entertainment.
Anthony Galie’s logic defying programs are a showcase of his skills as a licensed psychotherapist and master hypnotist, but they also teach tangible skills in focus and goal-setting that are applicable to any audience.
